2D1N Aura Montoria │ Importance Things To Know Before Going

Aura Montoria is located at Kota Belud. It will take about 2 hours ride from Kota Kinabalu to there, depending on the traffic. Although it's a long ride but WORTH IT! It's still considered a hidden gem as not many people heard about Aura Montoria because they only started in 2017. It looks like a mountain you can only found in Sarawak, where there are wooden bridges, caves, and waterfalls! There's even a cliff that is about 2 stories high for you to jump into the river to prove you're the TARZAN! Also, there's a river by the campsite and little to no mosquitoes!

Our Experience

Here is the starting point, where you'll do registration and payment here. An important

Let's take a group photo before we head out!

After 15 minutes of the downhill hike, you will come to a short beautiful bridge. It is the first attraction you should take pictures of!

Now it comes a little challenging part.
Uphill! Uphill! Uphill!

Almost reach our resting point!

Let's not rest too long, or else this hut is going to be our campsite.

Watch out your steps or say goodbye to your dry shoes and socks.

We've reached the campsite! Settle all your things down, and get ready for cooking.

We bought luncheon meat as our main side dish. DAMN delicious lah!

Everything is cooked, let's serve on the table!

Morning! We woke up at 6 am, had quite a wonderful sleep yesterday. No tent is needed because no mosquitos at all! That's weird.

After a simple breakfast, we pack our things into a small bag for the hike because we will be back to the campsite later.

This is how the Gua Mitilombus entrance looks like. A staircase on both side for people to get up and down.

After Pokok Tomboilik, you will immediately saw the first main attraction, Gua Murut. It is called the name because it looks like a mouth.

After another 10 mins, you'll come to Gua Wongking. It is a cave you'll need to get down by rope and light.

After came down from Gua Wongking, you've come to a paradise called Liogu Ourod.

After passing through another cave and moving uphill, you've come to another attraction called Wasai ID Gua.

Here is what you'll see at the peak! Here, our guide asks us whether we want to take a 6km route or 7km route. We choose 7km!

This is Sandra, she is the person I book through with. She is briefing us about the hike before we start.

The starting journey is not too hard, good for warming up.

This is the scenery you'll see on the bridge! So chilling and nice!

There are two uphill sections. Each section is about 10 minutes.

Ugh! Finally, we can rest for a moment.

There is only one trail from the starting point to the campsite, so follow the sign!

This is another attraction called Batu Mondou (Gung-Gung Cha). After this, you'll reach your campsite for about 20 mins.

All the cooking utensils are provided! Gas, plates, forks, spoons, cooker, etc.

Next, we also have sadin fish. This is not from the pond.

It's time to chit-chat and eat!

After finish brushing teeth and washing face, we went down to the pond and have some fun before our breakfast.

Another group photo before we head out and explore many more attractions.

Our first side-attraction today is this, Pokok Tomboilik. There is a hole under a large tree, and you will have to pass through it.

After 10 mins away from Gua Murut, you'll reach Waig Minorol. The water in the tube is drinkable, it is the mineral water from the mountain.

This is how you will need to get down. Grabbing the rope and step by step go down.

This is how the paradise of Liogu Ourod looks like. A big waterfall running down from the top of the mountain!

Wasai ID Gua is another waterfall spot, but here got a rocky surface for you to stand and take pictures.

Wasai Kimaso is the attraction you'll find only at the 7km route! There is an 8km route on its way to open soon!

This is our guide also our porter, his name is Kunan. He is very patient and could tell each of the attractions' details.

Along the way, you will notice a lot of rubber trees.

Along the way from the starting point, you'll notice Aura Montoria signboard. Follow the sign, and it will lead you to the campsite.

Let's hope it won't rain when you go on hiking because is going to get slippery!

A good spot to take some portrait tho~

It's raining the past few hours before we arrive, so that's why the trail gets nasty and muddy.

Did you see the sign?!?! Yuppp~ the campsite is just 5 minutes away! Let's run!

There is no chief cooking for you, you will have to cook yourself!

We have considered bringing other foods as our main dish, but lastly, we've selected Maggi.

After dinner, we had a shower and is time to sleep. Night~

Our breakfast is simple. We bought a roll of plain bread, kaya for the bread, and some 3in1 coffee to stir up our day!

Gua Mitilombus is a small cave that acts as an entrance in and out of our campsite.

This is the backside of Pokok Tomboilik. Look how happy he is~ HAHAHAHA

Let me do the demonstration, later you say I lie. When you drink, do not lick the tube because others will need to drink as well.

This is how it looks like from the bottom. Our helpful guide is helping us light up the way.

There are a wooden bridge and a staircase that leads you up here. This is how Liogu Ourud looks like from the top.

After 20 mins walk from Wasai ID Gua, you've finally reached the first peak! There is another peak, but I didn't take any pictures of it.

Wasai Kimaso is very nice when it's on raining season because if it's not then it'll going to be a little waterfall.
